Embedded Systems Engineer

Job Description

ATA is currently supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory in a variety of areas related to the design and flight of space vehicles. One of those areas is in the application and implementation of guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for spacecraft, for both translation and attitude degrees of freedom. ATA is looking for qualified candidates who are interested in working within a small, agile, innovative team supporting Air Force projects and who share a strong desire to create a work environment that is highly collaborative, rewarding, and fun.

The successful candidate will serve as an embedded systems engineer within AFRL/ATA’s GNC team for both real-time hardware and software support and could be asked to contribute to a collection of projects. Current projects are associated with three laboratories. One is for spacecraft attitude determination and control and provides a full hardware-based spacecraft bus emulator. The second is a robotics laboratory for hardware-based spacecraft orbital dynamics emulation. The third includes a three-axis rate table for calibration and performance evaluation of navigation systems. We work in a heavily MATLAB-based environment, using MATLAB for modelling, simulation, testing, and algorithm development, Simulink for real-time code development, and LabVIEW for rate table control and data acquisition.
