APPLIED TECHNOLOGY
ASSOCIATES AMONG TOP FLYING 40 THIRD YEAR IN A ROW
ALBUQUERQUE, NM
-- On June 23, Applied Technology Associates (ATA) received the 22nd slot on
the Albuquerque Journal Flying 40 list of growing technology companies in
New Mexico.
The award was
presented to Anthony Tenorio, President/CEO and principal owner of ATA, at
an award luncheon held at the Albuquerque Hilton on June 23. This is the
third year in a row ATA has been awarded a slot on the Flying 40 list.
Tenorio said, “Being
on the Flying 40 has given ATA recognition that has been invaluable in our
relationship with current and prospective customers.”
In May, ATA received
the National Prime Contractor of the Year award for 2004 from the U.S. Small
Business Administration at the SBA Expo held in Orlando, FL. The award and
the consecutive three year slot on the Flying 40 list coincide with a shift
in focus for ATA from a services company to a services and products company.
Three years ago, ATA decided it would begin the development of subsystems
utilizing its angular rate sensors, actuators, and proprietary products. The
ranking ATA received reflects a 53 percent growth in revenue between the
years 1999 and 2003.
ABOUT ATA
Applied Technology
Associates, Inc. (ATA) was organized in 1975 in Albuquerque, NM. ATA has
acquired an international reputation for excellence in professional
engineering services for precision measurement, sensing, and control
applications, and ATA is considered the premier small company within this
expertise. In 1998, ATA acquired status as a federally certified,
Hispanic-owned 8(a). ATA products are used in defense systems, earth imaging
satellites, automotive crash testing, and in platform stabilization for
telescopes and laser communications systems.
ATA has demonstrated
its ability to transition technology to operational use and commercial
products by building off government funded R&D. One example is the
development of its optical Inertial Reference Unit, which has been selected
by MIT Lincoln Labs to provide stabilization the planned Mars Laser
Communication Demonstration program. ATA has achieved outstanding results by
offering a synergistic blend of top expertise in design, components,
controls, software, integration, and operations. This encompassing mix is
extremely unusual in a company of its size and makes it stand well above its
peers.
Located in the Sandia
Science and Technology Park, ATA employs about 60 people. ATA also operates
facilities on Kirtland AFB and at North Oscura Peak on the White Sands
Missile Range and as a subcontractor to SAIC provides testing support to the
Air Force Test and Evaluation Command in various locations around the
country. |
